We BELIEVE that human wellbeing is more important than artificial intelligence. We believe that real photography has significant benefits for our students and the community, and merely considering if a real image could have been generated through AI tools is a very narrow way of looking at the topic. The benefits to us humans, and thereby the planet, go far far beyond the narrow discussions commonly seen about the AI technology itself. These are just a few of them: - Mental wellbeing of the photographers through time spent in nature - Deeper connections with nature through direct experiences of/in nature - Learning photography skills (composition, technical camera etc.). These can be used for future careers or as a lifelong hobby. - Learning new skills is good for developing the brain so it can learn other complex skills that use the left and right brain - Development of divergent and convergent thinking in the process of finding subjects to photograph and then giving your attention to creating an image - Joy for family members and the community who are moved by what the photographer actually saw and how they captured it to create a piece of art. Viewers can imagine themselves seeing the subject like the photographer, which is lost in AI generated images. They also perceive the photographer's deepening connection with nature through direct experience The students’ love for nature shines through in their images, and you’ll be inspired by their diverse perspectives that highlight the beauty of our natural world.
